Microsoft will withdraw its support for Windows 7 on 14th January 2020. Make sure your computer remains protected even after that date!
Support for Windows 7 will be discontinued in just under 6 months’ time. From 14th January 2020 onwards, Microsoft will no longer provide automatic fixes, updates or technical support on the Internet. Windows 7 users will therefore no longer be receiving any security updates, which would for instance protect them against viruses, worms and other malware.
If you are still using Windows 7, you should update your current computer to a more up-to-date Windows version (for instance Windows 10) by then. Otherwise, you will be exposed to considerable security risks from January 2020 onwards, in particular if your computer is connected to the Internet. The important thing is to check whether your computer fulfils all system requirements to run the new OS, and to back-up important data on an external storage medium before the changeover.
